5 Tasks to Complete Before Christmas

We’re celebrating all things five this year as it’s the anniversary of Queen Bee’s fifth birthday. And in this blog, with just five weeks to go until Christmas, we’re sharing our top five tasks to complete before Christmas and challenging you (and us!) to complete them. To help make this challenge less daunting, we’re suggesting dedicating one day per week, on the five weeks before Christmas, to complete each task. Wish us luck 😊

1. Make it Happen Monday

Make life that little bit easier by completing some of your regular tasks ahead to cover the Christmas break and your first week back. Schedule a couple of weeks of social media, write the blog for your website, have that newsletter sat in drafts ready to go. This will free up some time for you to get back into the swing of things, deal with any issues that may have cropped up over Christmas and think about some of your 2020 objectives.

2.  Tidy up Tuesday

You don’t want anything holding you back in 2020, make sure it really is a fresh start by taking some time on ‘Tidy up Tuesday’ to shred or dispose of any documents you don’t need, file away any work from 2019, and make sure the whole office is spotless. When you return, the office will feel calm and you will feel collected.

3. Well Thought Out Wednesday

It can be so easy to simply focus on day to day tasks in the run up to Christmas, however by ignoring your businesses goals in a mad scramble to get to your Christmas break, you are short changing yourself when it comes to achieving your 2020 goals. Taking some time to think about, and write down, your business goals is a powerful process. By acknowledging them, and sharing them with your employees, everyone can focus on the big picture, meaning your whole team is on the same page come January.

4. Take Charge Thursday

Think ahead and try not to plan any meetings for your first week back. It’s important to get to grips with where everything is up to before meeting with clients. By looking ahead, booking meetings after your first week back, prepping projects, checking events, and planning marketing, you will be in best possible place to hit ground running in 2020.

5. Finance Friday

Taking a day to make sure your books are balanced, all invoices have been sent out, all suppliers have been paid and your expenses are up to date, will ensure you don’t have finances hanging over you like a dark cloud during the Christmas break. It also means you’ll have the head space to help you project where your business is heading and make more informed financial decisions come January. Many small business owners find managing their finances a tricky business, don’t do it alone, make use of the numerous accounting software packages on the market to help you.

As small business owners ourselves, we know how difficult it can be to find the time to tackle issues such as these before Christmas, but we’re up for the challenge, and we hope you are too. We’d love to hear about how you are getting on with these challenges, so please keep us updated on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. Together we can do this! Or alternatively, if you need some help to free up some time for you to focus on these challenges, give the Bee’s a buzz, we’d be happy to take some projects off your pile so you can have a serene start to the New Year.
